Hopefully what comes across in this comic is that, the library job was my safety net. It was nice thinking that no matter what I'm more likely to have a job then not. Granted it was a little overbearing to think I'd get the job without a hitch. But I honestly believed I could.
Now, I wait till the end of June where essentially I will be asked to leave. They can't afford me and I'm not a student here, so that means bye bye.
In the end it may be for the better. Now I have to move on. All be it by force, but I don't make changes very willingly.
Goodnight.
"Changes. Turn and face the strange. Changes. Don't want to be a richer man. Changes. Turn and face the strange. Changes. Just gonna have to be a different man. Time may change me. But I can't trace time."
(Changes, David Bowie)
She called about a half hour before we closed. We made her talk to two other people before I assume she gave up. Haha.
Night.
"Leave home today. Escape your region. It's in your head, keep moving on. Choose starlight. No way to retrace. It is gone. Choose star bright. No way to retrace. It is gone."
(Call It In The Air, Jimmy Eat World)
Well hopefully at least the portfolio bit will be cleared up soon. I have a few ideas I could start putting together. A drawback of doing an artist portfolio, you tend to gear it towards the company your applying to or what job your searching for. So it's kinda hard when you don't know either.
I take a bit of comfort in the fact that a few of my graduating friends are just as stuck as I am.
Night all.
"Don't you give up don't allow disaster. Don't you give up don't you let her win. We're talking about a forever after. Don't you give up don't you dare give in."
(Most Precarious, Blues Traveler)
Jon's party was awesome. Before he started singing I shoved him onstage cause he was less then receptive. Haha, but it was worth.
Night.
"Jerry was a race car driver. And he drove so goddamned fast."
(Jerry was a race car driver, Primus)
Yea, Marlon's submission for the thesis reel was not that great. We all collectively booed haha. Good thing he doesn't read this comic.
Don't forget to vote for your favorite comics I have done. Bear in mind that some people might not get all the jokes, so pick the more universal ones. And let me know.
Night.
"Time, why you punish me? Like a wave bashing into the shore. You wash away my dreams."
(Time, Hootie And The Blowfish)
Well I did. After five years I graduated college. It's a funny feeling, I'm not as excited as many would think. I just have the usual anxieties.
The thesis show was cool. Every bodies work looked good and everybody was all dressed up and shit. My Mom, Grandma and Pa, and my Aunt Helen all came to the show. They loved my short and demanded copies of it to show everybody, haha. When I get some free time I'll burn some DVDS.
Around quarter of 4 Mom took me over to the Tweeter to get pictures. I ended up in the third row on the edge, so I'm sure I can find me. Afterwards we stood for about an hour waiting till we have to walk in. The ceremony was pretty good. Everyone was quick and concise. The diploma handing out was the thing that took forever. Lot's of psychology majors. As I told the lady sitting next to me, "What would Freud say?" something about sex I bet.
After the festivities Mom and Co whisked me off to Outback for a celebration dinner. After that we called it a night.
Graduation aside, a friend of mine clued me into a contest being run by the City Paper for a comics issue. This gives you guys a chance to let your voice be heard. So I ask you guys to give me YOUR top 10 favorite comics that I have done. Granted that's a lot of comics to think about from a very very long list of comics. But I figure that it be better for the audience to choose the ones that best represent me to show another audience. So I'll keep reminding you all weekend and you leave me a comment, email me, or tell me in person. Thanks guys.
I'm Tim Aichele college graduate, saying goodnight and congrads to all my classmates and friends, MUCH LOVE TO ALL OFF YOU!!!!
"And when you finally fly away. I'll be hoping that I served you well. For all the wisdom of a lifetime. No one can ever tell."
(Forever Young, Rod Stewart)Our graduating song, no lie.It also occured to me that I forgot to post a comic on Wednesday. What happened was that my internet was down, and by the time it got got back up I forgot to post the comic. Many apologies and here is Wednesdays comic
Of course before graduation and graduating parties. But I imagine I'll feel better soon.
"She's a brick house. Mighty mighty, just lettin' it all hang out."
(Brick House, The Commodores)
Ugh, might be getting sick.
"Time, time is not on my side. Cause the way I am. Gotta, gotta, now gotta find the reason why. A woman ain't a man."
(Army Ants, Stone Temple Pilots)
Happy Mother's Day to all the mommys.
"I would’ve kept you forever. But we had to sever. It ended for both of us.
Faster than a. Kill off this thinking. It’s starting to sink in. I’m losing control now. But without you I am finally free."
(Attack, 30 Seconds to Mars)
Well didn't feel like drawing anything up today. So here's a strip that magically appeared in my sketchbook while I was at the student art show. I know either Mark or Dave drew it. Cause they both said they did. So who knows and who cares. I get a day off and you get a comic. We all win!!!
Later folks. I'm off to possibly enjoy my new Complete series of Firefly that cost $20. WOOOOO!
"I want you (I want you). I need you (I need you). But-there ain't no way I'm ever gonna love you. Now don't be sad (Don't be sad). 'Cause two out of three ain't bad."
(Two Out Of Three Ain't Bad, Meat Loaf)
Don't you just Love Abbott and Costello? I sure do. Cause that's where I got the gnome joke. However I twisted it cause they were talking about Nome, Alaska. Ain't I clever?
Later folks.
"Before you send me off in nailed shut box. Please let me know."
(Nailed Shut, No Use For A Name)
Yup. Later.
"Sooner or later your legs give way, you hit the ground. Save it for later don't run away and let me down. Sooner or later you hit the deck you get found out. Save it for later don't run away and let me down, you let me down."
(Save It For Later, The English Beat)
And I am poor.
Goodnight.
"A poinsettia in poison rain. Traded true love for insult and injury. We washed it down the drain. With one silver bullet and two vicodin."
(Emma, Alkaline Trio)
Well I just read in the news of one of my frequent webcomic haunts. That a webcartoonist was fired for talking about guns and (according to her) the police came to his house for writing about it.This is a frightening concept. Cause with the content in my strip I could be susceptible to similar problems. Thankfully nobody I know thinks I'm that dangerous and that my comics are just jokes and soul retching introspection.
"What you need I hope it finds you. Oh I might. I might be. Well maybe. Maybe someday youll get it right."
(Ode To Maybe, Third Eye Blind)
It was inevitable that I would final take a shot at her. She makes loud and squeaky noises a lot. Haha.
"Life is a highway. I wanna ride it all night long. If you're going my way. I wanna drive it all night long."
(Life Is A Highway, Tom Cochrane)
For all those who noticed I didn't do a comic yesterday, sorry. To everyone else. Wasn't yesterday's funny?
I saw Hot Fuzz with my Rutgers gang. It was a funny movie man. Defiantly a go see.
Later folks.
"I was alive and I waited, waited. I was alive and I waited for this. Right here, right now. There is no other place I want to be. Right here, right now. Watching the world wake up from history."
(Right here, Right now, Jesus Jones)
I missed playing guitar. Night.
"And my girlfriend likes U.L. and D.H.C. And she's so smart and independent, I don't think she needs me. Quite half as much as I know I need her. I wonder why there's not another guy that she'd prefer."
(Josie, Blink 182)
Everybody thought it was cute. Haha. Also enjoyed that I used my cartoon version it.
"All the freaks go on a winning streak. In a perfect world, all the geeks get the girls."
(The Geeks Get the Girls, American Hi-Fi)
So I finished my post project. With twelve hours to spare. I also turned in the comics for the guy who bought them. So I'm done with school. YAAAAAYYYYY.
Well I'm out. Peace. SAY ANYTHING AND SAVES THE DAY BITCHES!!!
"Looks like we made it."
(Looks Like We Made It, Barry Manilow)
Clever, haha. It's coming to the end kid.
Later.
"Going home. On our way back home."
(Going Home, Goldfinger)
Honestly while I was watching the finished product with my classmates I was thinking: "Oh maybe I can tweak it, here, here, and here, make it the most amazing short ever made." I still think I could do some improvements too it, but I'm happy with the result.
Of course I could spend my whole life devoted to that minute and a half making every little thing perfect. But I think my time would be better spent working on making newer better animations and characters. Which I plan to do all summer before going to Siggraph in San Diego.
Also I have plenty of other projects. Finishing my post production class comes to mind right away. I could go back to work on the game, I could go back to the drawing board, the list can go on.
I guess I will always panic when I finish a project I've been working on for so long. Cause at some point you have to declare it done and bring it to the public. It's only natural I think.
That's all I feel like saying. Night kids, sleep tight.
"And life is a road that I wanna keep going. Love is a river, I wanna keep flowing. Life is a road, now and forever, wonderful journey."
(At The Beginning, Richard Marx and Donna Lewis)
Actually he was throwing balls at me yesterday.
Night.
"Mirror in the bathroom. I just can't stop it. Every Saturday you see me. Window shopping. Find no interest in the racks and shelves. Just ten thousand reflections of my own sweet self, self, self."
(Mirror in the bathroom, The English Beat)
More work work. Later.
"The next time I see you, you'll turn away. I'll say "Hello" but you'll keep on walking. The next time you see me, I'll turn away. Do you remember where we used to sleep at night? I couldn't feel you, you're always so far away."
(Make You Smile, +44)
Yup spent almost 24 hours on campus. It was loooooong.
I'm tired so I say goodnight.
"She seems to have an invisible touch yeah. She reaches in, and grabs right hold of your heart. She seems to have an invisible touch yeah. It takes control and slowly tears you apart."
(Invisible Touch, Genesis)
I think even funnier then her comment is the fact someone else laughed really loud. Haha.
"Love is a Battlefield."
(Love is a Battlefield, Pat Bentar)
It was kinda funny cause I was gonna not do one. luckily(kinda) the bathroom door at work sucks.
Later.
"Give me something to do to kill some time. Take me to that place that I call home. Take away the strains of being lonely. Take me to the tracks at Christie Road."
(Christie Road, Green Day)
Yup, it hurt. Later folks.
"If there was a problem yo I'll solve it. Check out the hook while my DJ revolves it."
(Ice Ice Baby, Vanilla Ice)
For the longest time I referred to the other cartoon version of me as "Cartoony Tim". However upon writing this comic I thought of a better name for him...ME. That's right, I'm thinking of referring to Cartoony Tim as Me from now on. Any objections?.
That's it, night folks.
"My gut is burning. Won't you find me some water? Hey, just forget it can you bring me gasoline. And collect a couple forks, hold them three feet apart. And wait for lightning to strike to burn me up?"
(See You, Saves the Day)
Work, work, work.
"Someone's standing on my chest."
(Someone's Standing On My Chest, Atreyu)
It actually happened yesterday, but I couldn't hep but wanna write about it. It seems too funny to me.
So on Tuesday at some bar Me and my musical partner Dan will be playing and open mic night somewhere on 19th and Samson (I think). I'll get more details on that.
I'm also freaking out. SCHOOL IS ENDING SOON!!!! I'll have to turn in my thesis by the end of the week, and I have to turn in my project for class after that. WHICH I HARDLY HAVE WORKED ON!!!! *sigh*
Night all.
"I cant let it get me off. Or break up my train of thought. As far as I know, nothings wrong. Until I hear it from you."
(Til I Hear It From You, Gin Blossoms)
It's true, so true. Both things haha.
Another friday being lame. Take it easy folks.
"And you still don’t have the right look. And you don’t have the right friends. Nothing changes but the faces, the names, and the trends. High school never ends."
(High School Never Ends, Bowling for Soup)
Well I turned in my animation and a still for thesis yesterday. Today they rejected my still and accepted my animation under the condition I finish it, as if I wasn't. Also Li said he'd let me put the still in if I work on it. So good times.
"I know there comes as time when you lose faith in what you believe inside (what you have inside). And did you know somehow it's just a spark that's a start. That keeps us from the crowd."
(Last One Out Of Liberty City, Less Than Jake)
Yea, I'm tired and when I'm tired I say things without any real thought or care for making sense to other people. Haha.
"I'm not antisocial, and it's nothing that's reproachful. It's just natural! It's only me! I can't think of anybody else I'd rather spend some one on one time with. It's not that hard to see, It's only me."
(It's Only Me, Barenaked Ladies)
Though I am an avid texture. It's just riddiculous what features are going into a phone.
Also a touch screen for a phone?
Night folks.
"'I love you. I need you near.' Just give me one last chance. And I'll never let you down again."
(Summer Wind Was Always Our Song, The Ataris)
Yea, the highways got flooded.
I had a hard time thinking of a punchline, either running away or just not caring. It's Jersey, so it was obvious haha.
Later.
"It's hard to say what it is I see in you. Wonder if I'll always be with you. Words can't say, I can't do. Enough to prove it's all for you."
(All For You, Sister Hazel)
The quotes from Armageddon. The scene where Bruce Willis is talking to Liv Tyler before they leave. It's on a plaque.
Bye.
"So kiss me and smile for me. Tell me that you'll wait for me. Hold me like you'll never let me go. Cause I'm leavin on a jet plane. Don't know when I'll be back again. Oh babe, I hate to go.
(Leaving On A Jet Plane, John Denver)
I got nothing.
Night.
"You're there when I fall. You'd help me be strong. Even when I lost my faith. We're standing so tall. We made it through it all. We will keep it going strong. Cause i feel it in the songs."
(In The Songs, Midtown)
Another over night at the lab so kinda tired. I must say Dave Thomilson is a warrior. Not only did he stay all night, he was going strong when I left. Shooooooooo.
That's all folks.
"Everything that I've done here into one in keeping with. Some earned conviction, some stagnation, some change despair. Disappointment and odds. In a costume you can't take off. I leave it behind. I know that this time i get in for free."
(Change Despair, Lagwagon)
This is Schmee. She works at the library. She has been nice enough to lend me Sandman.
She did warn me. I doubt it's true. But it could explain things. haha.
Night
"Maintain a little. Take the cynical saint to the stake and you burn it. It's radio silence."
(Radio Silence, Harvey Danger)
For those of you who don't know. Punkbot is my thesis project. He is currently dancing to "so many ways" by new found glory. Though he is most rememered for his puppet like dancing to "never going back to new jersey" by Less than Jake. He is iconic in a way around the lab. Cause everybody seems to remember him haha. Also this is his first appreance as a 2-D object.
That's it folks. Later.
"I know i want to but it gets harder every time. And if it's easier to give up everything. I'd give it all to you to relieve half this pain. Cause it's been hard. Yeah it's been hard."
(Disorder, Goldfinger)
A friend of mine laughed at this comic. Haha. Takes all kinds.
"Exit light. Enter night. Take my hand. Off to never never land."
(Enter Sandman, Metallica)
Funny outfits, hehehe.
I forgot to mention that my friend Ted created an awesome video for my old band Backwards Alphabet. Click play
"Whoa, there's something in the air tonight. Something that makes me feel alive and i say. Whoa, what were the words that you said to me. That made me feel so special now."
(Stay With Me, Finch)
Happy Easter Folks. Enjoy bunnies and eggs folks.
"What you do on your own time's just fine. My imagination's much worse. I just never want to know. What meant the world had folded like legs and fingers holding onto what escapes me what he has a better kiss that never lasts."
(Calm Before The Storm, Fall Out Boy)
I just thought it was funny I thought of that today.
"It's the final countdown"
(The Final Countdown, Europe)
Yea, it was fun. We also did the student art show the same night. The best piece was a large cardboard women with the face of Christopher Walken made by Jon, Mike and Chris. The had word bubbles you could write on. Some pretty funny stuff man. I also got an honorable mention for my work. It was nice.
Hopefully render week will be just as much fun, WOOOOOO.
"This is how we do it. Its friday night, and I feel all right."
(This Is How We Do It, Montell Jordan)
Oh that Jim.
Long night, bye.
"Whoa, black betty (bam-ba-lam)"
(Black Betty, Ram Jam)
An animator who'll remain Eric came up with this idea. I just don't wish to subject people to seeing us dance haha.
Night folks.
"She said I think I'll go to Boston. I think I'll start a new life. I think I'll start it over. Where no one knows my name. I'll get out of California, I'm tired of the weather. I think I'll get a lover and fly em out to Spain. I think I'll go to Boston. I think that I'm just tired. I think I need a new town, to leave this all behind. I think I need a sunrise. I'm tired of the sunset. I hear it's nice in the summer, some snow would be nice. Boston. Where no one knows my name."
(Boston, Augustana)
I sat in front of a computer screen most of the day. Only too leave to Sam's club and a diner.
That's all folks.
"She thinks, we look at each other. Wondering what the other is thinking. But we never say a thing. These crimes between us grow deeper."
(Ants Marching, Dave Matthews Band)
HEY KIDS!!!!
Well first I'd like to thank Henry Eudy, Heather Hitchman, Mark Savary, Justin Silverman, Dave Thomilson, Spikey, Nick Sawyer, Lucy Price, Jeremy Niedt, Carla Scarduzio, Shane Forker and Jason Velykis. Without your comics, I woulda never had time off.
Like the comic said I worked a lot. Graduation is coming up fast. Lot's to do, lot's to do. Just trying to get through the general crap I feel.
However today I feel pretty good.
I'M BACK BABY, let's ride.
"Welcome back, Welcome back, welcome back, welcome back."
(John Sebastian, Welcome Back)
